Often some of the most far-reaching electromechanical toys are those attempting to be a roboticized playmate of some sort, with some of my favorites including "home pet" type robots and educational entertainment robots. These toys are often powered off of much fewer motors than seems possible with relatively simple control components inside. In the digital age, program control became more complicated and capable and toys began employing sensors and speech synthesis and recognition.
Tomy are certainly my favorite electrometrical toymakers and they have produced a variety of different robot and robotic toys over the decades.
