The train in the set originally had an open carriage, as shown here, but later copies included an early version of the chuffing "Chug Along" car. The early chuffing car was solid blue but with the TOMY stripe sticker on the side instead of the Chug Along graphic used on other releases.
Both this and the Tunnel Sound set include the red #12 steam engine, while this set has a blue caboose with grey roof like Tomy Train 2. I pieced this example together to photograph - the engine ought to be a studded type to match the studded caboose. The later chuffing sets have a red caboose like in the Tunnel Sound Train Set and actually have the new updated 1327 catalogue number.
This series of passing loop sets are really about the smallest "fun" train sets, much more fun than ovals, and the reversing features of Tomy Train are always cool. I do think another doll should have been included, especially in the earlier releases with open coaches, and a station would have been nice, but they must have been trying to cut down the Tomy Train 1 set for the American market, and at that point you are basically back at Tomy Train 1.
