The Mini Mini Rail No. 2 Hikari Set (ミニミニレールNO.2セットひかり号) was released by Bandai as part of the Mini Mini Rail series seemingly as one of the earlier sets, as it has a non-reversing Hikari train.
The Mini Mini Rail No. 2 layout is very similar to Plarail's No. 2 layout.

The train in this set is an earlier non-reversing 0 series Shinkansen Hikari, as ran on the Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen line for many decades. The front car has yellow headlights and the rear has red, a nice touch.
The power chassis is in the front car, and takes two N size batteries with a metal power switch to turn it on and off. Looking closely at the chassis you can see that they are really all the same, and different couplings can be installed to make up the different cars.
Track in this set is the earlier type of all-grey track. The switches for this system were produced in both manual and automatic, which sends the train straight through.
The overhead wires and signals fit into slots in the roadbed and several trees are included.
These earlier sets were smaller than the later Action Series sets, with a fairly basic oval with passing loop - they don't even include two manual switches, so if you want to actually control the train you can only run it one way.
