J-24 Plateau Station (1975)

First written June 11, 2024

The Plateau Station or Highland Station (こうげんの駅) was first released in 1975. It depicts a larger rural station with a station building with seating and a raised platform.

A bell in the roof can be rung by spinning the handle on top.

The roof is removable and holds the bell and striking mechanism. Inside there are benches as well as ticket gates and stairs up to the higher platform level. The station was given the number 37 under the late 70s numbering scheme and then J-24 in the late 80s.

Later on, most of the open windows were filled and covered with different stickers.

The stem for the bell is broken and does not hold the bell in the correct position on this example... The striker is similar to some I have seen in other Tomy toys, two rings that hit the bell held loosely to a rotating piece of metal.

The Plateau Station went out of production in 1992 when Japanese Plarail production was being wound down. J-24 became the Action Airport in 1992 until around 1996 before becoming the J-24 Station Building panel station around 1998. The station later appeared with Plakids and even in the Thomas series.
