In early October 2023 I received several 1970s and 1980s Plarail items I had not previously owned like the original 1979 Hikari with Light, original D51 with Light, old power Blue Train and 1980s remote control 0 series as well as Y turnout rails and older large iron bridge.
This layout has a small yard on the "local" line which has one larger transfer station and a smaller station on the opposite side of the line. Around the outside is a partially elevated shinkansen line.
All of the trains I ran on this layout were old power and most were from the 1980s. All the track used was old roughtop track except for the earlier Y turnout rails which were all smooth and the sloped bridge rails which had treading.
This was the first time I used the old Y turnout rails. Because they are made to send a train entering them to the left and the distance between the tracks is the same as the difference in the radii of the normal curve rail and the old large radius curve rails they are great for using on transfer stations and can even be relocated around a corner.
I also ran the old remote control Hikari around. The remote only lets you turn the train on and off, there are no speed or direction options like some later remote control Plarail trains.
