Plarail Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends 60th Anniversary Metallic Thomas (2005)

In January 2005 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Railway Series books and the Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends television show based on then Tomy released a special shiny blue Thomas with matching gold Annie and Clarabel.

The ST mark on the box is for 2005, but the production mark shows that it was actually made in December 2004.

The shiny Thomas and Annie and Clarabel are all nice and reflective, the shades of metallic plating are very nice and the stickers are all transparent to fit over them well.

There were some later shiny blue Thomases that were similar. These trains were produced in December 2004 and have a large sticker on the rear that just contains his rear lamp.

Unlike the 1990s Plarail Thomas Fair Gold Thomas, the Annie and Clarabel chassis are black instead of gold, and I think the color is a little more orangey.

I have come across a few of these Thomases over the years, it seems they were fairly popular. The box is a little harder to come across.

At the time of writing, it is the 80th anniversary of the Railway Series and Thomas the Tank Engine... There is a new anniversary Thomas train based on the Railway Series but with rather disappointing stickers, and like other newer Plarail Thomas products in general it is not as impressive as the 2000s products...
