Plarail Dash (2011)

First written March 9, 2025

In June 2011 Tomy released Dash the logging locomotive from the Misty Island Thomas and Friends special for the Thomas Plarail series, with his brother Bash being released exclusively in a set later that year.

T-26 Plarail Dash (June 2011)

Plarail Dash (プラレールダッシュ) was released in November 2011 and was the second CGI-only character to be released in the T series era of boxes.

Dash uses a compact AA-battery gearbox that is accessed from underneath. This example was produced in May 2011, so it is probably from the initial production run.

Dash includes dark green and grey trucks with log loads. Its nice to have a regular release including these cargo pieces, they stopped using them with regular trains after a while...

Bash (November 2011)

Dash's twin Bash was released in the Let's Play! Thomas and Bash Log Loading and Unloading Set in November 2011. This was a neat log loading set with Thomas and Bash as well as an elevated circle of track above the log loading section. I don't currently have any of the other exclusive components to the set, but the box shows Bash with front cab window stickers with blue rims and an orange background that properly matches his cab, with the final Bash reusing some of Dash's stickers, including his rear geared mechanism.

Bash was produced in October 2011 ahead of the sets release in November.

TS-16 Plarail Dash (2012)

On June 14, 2012 Dash was rereleased with the new designation TS-16 in the first CGI series of boxes. In 2014 Dash was replaced by TS-16 Plarail Connor.
