Skarloey is a narrow-gauge tank engine on the Skarloey Railway in the Railway Series books and Thomas the Tank Engine television series. Despite first appearing in the television show in the 1990s, Tomy did not produce the narrow gauge characters until the mid 2000s.
Skarloey was released as T-25 プラレールスカーロイ T-25 Plarail Skarloey in T series packaging with two narrow gauge coaches in June 2006. This example is marked as being produced in May 2006.
Skarloey has static side rods and comes with two nice cream and blue coaches using the branch line coach tooling.
Skarloey uses the flat-type drive unit with a screw holding his boiler in place. Skarloey's chassis had the CE and do not dispose marks present from the beginning.
In 2006 Skarloey was exported to Europe in blue Thomas Motor Road & Rail packaging and to the United States in Toys R Us three-pack Motorized Road & Rail packaging with two coaches. Skarloey also appeared in the 2008 U.K. Tomy TrackMaster range.
Beginning in 2006 Skarloey was sold in the United States with two half straight rails.
