Plarail Stephen (2014)

First written September 2026

Stephen, based on Stephenson's Rocket, appears in the later CGI Thomas & Friends television series and was also commercialized for the Thomas Plarail series. Stephen has a unique large front wheel and is pushed by a somewhat large motorized tender.

TS-15 Plarail Stephen (2014)

Plarail Stephen (プラレールモリー) was first released on April 24th, 2014 as TS-15 in the light blue CGI style of Thomas Plarail packaging. The box impression on this example dates it to May 21st, 2014, so it is from a relatively early production run.

Stephen includes a red log car with a crown accessory that can be placed over his funnel.

Stephen's large front wheels are neat, although they lack traction tires, and although the unpowered engine looks nice I do think his large powered tender looks a little odd.

In 2018 Stephen was rereleased in the new darker blue style of CGI packaging.
