Thomas the Tank Engine Basic Set (2009)

The Thomas the Tank Engine Basic Set (きかんしゃトーマス ベーシックセット) is a small introductory Thomas-series Plarail set released on August 27th, 2009. It features Thomas and his coaches as well as a tunnel, station, and small siding.
The box says things like "This is the perfect set for anyone just starting out with Plarail!" and "Comes with Thomas, Annie and Clarabel, a station and a tunnel set that you can play with right away!" This example is a 2010 print run box.

The Thomas, Annie and Clarabel in this set are standard for the era, with Thomas having less overspray around the lamp irons than earlier 2000s examples and the smaller rear lamp sticker.
The Ffarquhar Station in this set is a nice yellow and red set variant with a brown platform. The yellow station building and red roof resemble Wellsworth Station's appearance in the Thomas the Tank Engine television show. This station was produced after the base was adapted to let the version of the station building with separately fitted windows and doors fit all the way down flat.
This set includes the regular Thomas-series tunnel as well as two light green trees with green bases and a red set of buffers for the small siding in this set.
Obviously, the set is very simple, but I like that it has a siding with turnout and buffers because it gives a place to expand the set outwards or just have a turnout in a snaking layout made from the parts of this small set.
