Plarail Chocolate Percy (2014)

First written February 20, 2025

In September 2014 the Thomas Town indoor theme park began selling the exclusive Chocolate Percy (チョコレート パーシー) pack as a special Thomas-series Plarail release.

The pack references the story of Percy's Chocolate Crunch in which Percy crashes through a chocolate factory and ends up covered in chocolate and includes a surprised Percy with "chocolate" and an orange truck.

Percy has a shocked face that is partially covered in the brown paint used on his boiler, cab, and bunker. With the rest of the details of the 2000s Plarail Percy he ends up looking rather nice.

The truck has no face but does have a Mr. Jolly's Chocolate Factory sticker on each side. There is chocolate around the rim, but no chocolate load... why would you transport chocolate around in a plank wagon anyways? In the television show, they often carry exposed flour, sugar, and other baking materials in open-top wooden plank trucks like the troublesome trucks... I'm choosing to believe Mr. Jolly just put some funny chocolate-colored decorations on the side of his trucks. He also carries chocolate syrup in tankers, which makes a little bit more sense, I suppose.

This example was produced in June 2015.

In 2008 Tomy had previously exported the similar Percy and the Chocolate Crunch train pack as part of the European Motor Road & Rail range. This pack did not include any special trucks and had a different "chocolate" application on Percy's shocked face.
