The Sodor Expansion Set is an accessory pack for the American Thomas Motorized Road & Rail system first produced in late 2004 and sold in 2005 under the 4880 catalogue number. The front of the box suggests that the six individual barrels are removable rather than the two pieces of three drums each, and the rear also suggests that at some point logs of some kind may have been included in the pack.
The pack includes a loop of track with two open turnout connections and three pieces of rolling stock. The earlier 4880 box above is marked as being packed in the factory in November 2004.
In 2006 a new accessory set with different track and rolling stock was released as 4892 Sodor Expansion Set. In later 2006 this pack was rereleased with the new catalogue number 4894 with a slightly updated box with different catalogue number and Tomy Corporation address. This example dates to October 2006.

The rolling stock includes the brakevan and fuel tanker which would have been included with the three-pack export Percy and James but engines were often sold individually in the United States so packs like this offered some additional rolling stock. The troublesome trucks are also somewhat less common in American releases, and the drum loads only appear in a few other American releases.
This pack makes up a complete loop on its own, but the two open turnout joints make it obvious that this set is for expansion. Any standard set with a 180 degree curve made up of four curve rails can be very easily expanded to include the pieces to this set, or it can be integrated into a larger setup.
