In 2005 new Meitetsu 2000 series trains began servicing the Chubu Centrair International Airport in Tokoname, Aichi on the Meitetsu Airport Line connecting Tokoname Station and the airport station. In January 2005 a Plarail version of the 2000 series trains was released as S-55 Meitetsu 2000 Series MuSky (S-55 名鉄2000系ミュースカイ). MuSky is the nickname of the train, and is a combination of the M from Meitetsu, μ or mu, the nickname of the special car on Meitetsu express trains, and Sky relating to the airport.
Shown here is a 2005 print run box with a January 2005-production 2000-series inside. I am not sure if this was the first production run of 2000 series or if some boxes and trains were produced in late 2004 before the January 27th release, or if production did not start until 2005.
The three-car train includes car #2001 as the power car, #2051 as the intermediate car, and #2101 as the tail car. Several running indicators and Centrair related logos surround the train.
The 2000 series uses a two-speed new power gearbox. The Meitetsu 2000 series remains on sale as S-55 in ninth generation packaging, although it was updated after the Takara Tomy merger.
