J-23 Country Station --> |
The Elevated Station (こうかえき) was released in 1985 in yellow Hikari-Go packaging and is an evolution of 70s and earlier 80s stations of similar design. The new 1988 accessory numbering scheme renamed the station J-22 こうか駅 (Kouka or Elevated Station). The station could be stacked on top of three Block Buildings to create a truly elevated station.
Like similar previous stations, the elevated station can be split apart, although it was sold in hanging bags and in sets already assembled. The center of the station is a small stand that does not seem to specifically sell tickets. Two yellow poles support the roof with hanging arrival and timetable boards. The base of the station is marked "ゆめがおか駅" or Yumegaoka Station. There is a real Yumegaoka Station on the Sagami Railway Izumino line, but the Plarail station predated the real one by almost 15 years.
The earliest Elevated Stations were made in Japan beginning in 1985. The station was first used in a set in 1987's 2-Speed Shinkansen Set, with further new power sets using it in place of the previous Station Platform. Thailand production of the Elevated Station began around 1989 when the mold was updated to say Thailand on the bottom. By 1993 the mold was updated to say both Tomy Thailand and Made in Thailand. The individual release also ceased around 1993.
Starting around 1989 a version of the station was localized for Germany for use in the Tomy Express series of sets. This version of the station exists in both "Thailand" and "Made in Thailand" versions.
Circa 1999 a version of the elevated station was released for the Tomica World range in Europe and the United States.
This version features different stickers on the kiosk and signposts. It is otherwise similar to other later 1990s "elevated" stations.
