R-10 U-Turn Rail

The R-10 U-Turn Rail (R-10 Uターンレール) was first released in 1998. The rail is red and made up of three pieces with a slot for a signal to fit into its base, which is included in the individual release and in several sets that include the U-turn rail. This rail is similar to an old type of turnaround that went out of print in the 1970s but it fits in with the double rail standard, with two concave rail connections spaced 60mm apart. The R-10 designation was used for the old style of R-10 Joint Rail until they were discontinued in 1997.

The connections of the U-turn rail are labeled with letters to show the correct order, but it can still be put together wrong. The only thing this changes is where the stabilization wings stick out of the track.

These supports offer more places to stack block girders and allows the turnaround to be stacked in towers.

In the 2000s the squared-off Tomy logo was added to the tooling.

U-Turn Rails were sold individually in the U.K. from the Tomy Careline as part of the Thomas Motor Road & Rail range, including the baseless signal.
