1370 Thomas the Tank Engine Starter Set (1997)
The Thomas the Tank Engine Starter Set was a small oval set in the 1997 American Thomas Battery Operated Rail System. It was the only set in the range to not be based on an existing Japanese Plarail Thomas set. The set uses some holdover Tomy Train accessories like the fir tree and stoplight sign.

Other than the odd accessories, the Thomas, Annie and Clarabel and track are all standard circa-1997 production.
Annie and Clarabel's roofs and Thomas' face are all darker than earlier 1990s Thomases, with darker greys seen on domestic Plarail and export Thomas series trains in the later 1990s.
