Plarail 205 series Commuter Trains (1985)

The Plarail Commuter Express was first released in 1985 when the 205 series entered service. With the expansion of the Plarail train lineup in the 1990s, several variations with different color stripes signifying different lines were released.

EC-21 Commuter Train (1985)

In 1985 the first version of the 205 series was released with four-partition windows similar to the Electric Train and Train toolings. This train was plated and used an old-power gearbox. Very soon after the tooling was changed to have the larger two-panel windows.

Commuter Train (1987-1993)

In the late 1980s 205 series trains were released with new power gearboxes and silver or goldish plating and green stripes as seen on the Yamanote Line.

Suburban Trains

Beginning in 1988 a few other series of commuter trains like the Suburban Trains 近郊電車 used the same body tooling as the Commuter Trains but with different front and rear end toolings to represent 211, 415, and other classes of train, sometimes with different styles of intermediate cars.

Commuter Trains (1999)

On February 5th, 1999 four different color variations of the 205 series were released representing different lines where they were still in service.

Commuter Train (Bush Warbler) (1999-2002)

Rereleased unplated with a Yamanote Line head mark, the "bush warbler" (uguisu) version of the commuter train was released in 1999.

Commuter Train (Sky Blue) (1999-2002)

One of the Commuter Trains released in 1999 is a sky blue stripe version seen on the Kyoto, Keihin Tohoku, and other services. The sticker on the front and rear state that it is headed for Kyoto. The previous Plastic Train in light blue was intended to depict the Keihin Tohoku line, as did the next sky blue-type commuter train, the S-33 E233 Series Keihin Tohoku Line.
