J-11 Signal Station (1976)

The Signal Station (しんごうじょ) was first released in 1975 and represents a signal box with signal and stop rail which can be flipped from a lever in the lower level of the building. During Japanese production the station had concave connections on either end and included two dogbone joint rails.

The signal's arm and the position of colored stickers inside the signal housing change with the stop rail. The blue stack on the roof can be pushed down to make a whistle sound.

The example shown here is a later Japan-made example that had updated graphics for the singalmen inside.

I have recently (December 2024) gotten a broken older Japanese production example with the original signalmen graphics in the window.

J-11 Signal Station (1988)

Around 1988 the signal station was given the designation J-11 Signal Station (J-11 信号所). Shortly after, production moved to Thailand and the connector on the far end from the signal was changed to a convex type. This type stayed in production until the early 2000s update.

J-11 Signal Station (2003)

In 2003 a new color variant of the station with a grey base and green roof was released as J-11 Signal Station. The signalmen graphics were updated again to resemble PlaKids.
