The Pedestrian Overpass (こせんきょう) was first released in 1979 in yellow Hikari-Go packaging and depicts a pedestrian crossing over train lines. A single line or two lines adhering to the double rail standard or similar width can fit underneath.
The overbridge is made up of the white bridge section with red roof and two mirrored support bases. The bridge has signs directing passengers to the first and second platforms. On the front and rear are "safety first" message stickers reminding passengers to use the bridge rather than jump across the tracks.
The underside of the bridge is marked with a large late-70s style TOMY box with "boy and girl" mark, 1978 date, and MADE IN JAPAN mark. The bases are also marked Japan. Later Thailand-production bridges had these markings updated.
This color scheme helps the pedestrian crossing fit in with the blue-based Stations and Station Platforms of the era as well as the later white-platformed Elevated Station.
As part of the first Thomas the Tank Engine series set in 1992 the Plarail pedestrian crossing was produced in a new brown, white, and green colorway to match the Wellsworth Station recolor of the Plarail Country Station. Later, a darker Tidmouth Halt Station Crossing was included in a few sets.
Seemingly around the same time the Country Station tooling moved from Japan to Thailand in the mid 1990s when Tomy closed two of its Japanese factories, the Pedestrian Crossing was also moved to Thailand and continued production with minor updates.
In 1998 the Pedestrian Crossing was adapted for the export Tomica World series with some of the stickers from the Thomas series version. These crossings were all made in Thailand and use the same plastic colors as the Japanese version.
In 2003 a new cream bridge with dark red roof and green bases was released to fit the color scheme of the rereleased Country Station.
In early 2021 the classic pedestrian crossing was replaced with a modern-looking orange and green pedestrian crossing that could be reconfigured and combined in different configurations known as J-12 つなげよう!くみかえこせんきょう or Let's Connect! Rearrangement Overpass that can also be used as a single or multi-track bridge. This was unfortunately replaced rather quickly with J-12 トミカと遊べる踏切 J-12 Railroad Crossing Where You Can Play With Tomica in 2023, and Plarail no longer carried a pedestrian crossing bridge.
