Thomas' Railway Fun Set (2002)

The 4762 Thomas' Railway Fun Set is a 2002 American Thomas Motorized Road & Rail set with Thomas, Annie, Clarabel, Ffarquhar station, and a tunnel and bridge on a modified figure-eight style layout.
This set (indeed, the example pictured here) was one of the reasons that I got into collecting Tomy trains - I had had the Thomas at the Station set as a kid but I was not satisfied with the track selection and I did not have any other Plarail-related sets until finding this one at a Goodwill some time around 2014. It was only marked 20 dollars, but pink tag items were all 50 percent off at the time so I ended up paying only ten dollars! This was the first time I had a tunnel, bridge, Annie and Clarabel... and it also made it obvious that if I could find more of it, there was fun to be had with Tomy's blue-track system.

Early examples of this set from 2002 may have had some more varied components, but this circa 2005 copy uses all updated-logo toolings and components.
The station in this set has the updated 2002 date bottom with new logo but still the older style of station building that fits down into the base properly. The tunnel is a 2000s production example.

The modified figure-eight layout with bridge and tunnel is nice and offers several play opportunities. The switches are also fun, although once Thomas has run across the regular turnouts on the bottom of the layout once he enters a looping figure-eight that he can't get out of without being lifted off the track.
